Our Employee Involvement

We are a determined bunch when it comes to helping our communities. Our Sustainability programme is built on the commitment of our employees who share our vision for better, brighter communities. In 2017, we saw our employees getting involved with over 240 active volunteers contributing thousands of hours across all our programmes.

Our employees chose The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI) as our charity partner and finished 2017 on a high with almost €130,000 raised through a number of fundraising efforts. The money raised far exceeded our expected total by more than 160% and more than 130 KBC staff participated in activities for the ASI. It was our employee led flagship Hub2Hub event that captured people’s imaginations and efforts. A 600km non-stop relay race on foot visiting all of KBC hubs across Ireland was completed by over 60 employees, who ran for 60 hours non-stop in 10km stages. Over €130,000 was raised from this event alone.

KBC also partners with Enactus and our employees wanted to get involved and do more! Enactus is a community of student, academic and business leaders that promote and drive social entrepreneurship. Teams from across KBC have been mentoring student teams, providing training and judging at Enactus competitions across the country as they develop ideas to contribute to a more sustainable world. In 2017 we developed and launched our student internship, welcoming 4 talented interns into the KBC team. We found that we learned as much from them as they did from us!

We’re focused on embedding our green strategy into our business and reducing our carbon footprint. However, our environmental responsibility goes further than reducing paper waste or saving on energy. Our Green Team challenge us to build a sustainable business based on a sustainable green strategy. The team drive our sustainable initiatives and communications through awareness weeks, campaigns, competitions and more. We were delighted to achieve the ISO14001 standard for environmental management in 2017 and to be recognised for our efforts in protecting and enhancing the environment.
