There’s a reason companies the world over are embracing sustainability: You.
Yes, You! you and people like you are proving that doing good is simply good business. Your choices demonstrate that the bottom line can’t be all about profits. A bright future depends on business of all kinds being reimagined and reinvented. At KBC, we understand this includes us. That’s why our sustainability vision is baked into our business model and drives our values We’re on a mission to create positive, long term impact for our employees, our customers and society. This promise is led by four important pillars:
Health & Wellbeing.
The only thing preventing a better, brighter tomorrow, is the belief that someone else will create it. So we started with ourselves. By creating the kind of internal culture that fosters innovation through collaboration, we’ve developed new product solutions and selected charity partners and community initiatives close to the hearts of our people.
We’ve set goals to reflect our culture, values and beliefs about sustainability. We will drive these ambitions with our passion for positive impact. With direct input from our colleagues in 16 hubs, partners and communities, we’ve committed to several community initiatives as well as partnerships with Business in the Community, Enactus Ireland and Junior Achievement. Each one supports with KBC’s global sustainability strategy, while supporting our independent, regional ambitions.
Committed to Health and Wellbeing
To celebrate our partnership with WellFest, we teamed up to offer people a free 30 day health and wellness programme called WellGood. After just 30 days you will have started to make some small changes to contribute to an overall better sense of wellbeing. We have brought the best tips from our ambassadors - performance psychologist Gerry Hussey; best-selling cookery author Roz Purcell; and Dublin GAA player and fitness entrepreneur Philly McMahon.
Committed to Volunteering
We offer employees three volunteering days a year. Two days for any of our charity partners and one day for a charity of their choice. Every year our employees dedicate over 1000 hours in volunteering to our local community and charity partners.
Committed to Mental Health Stigma Reduction
Through direct employee engagement, we’ve pledged to support See Change, the National Mental Health Stigma Reduction Partnership and received the See Change Green Ribbon Award in 2017. This six-step certification programme establishes tools and processes to promote understanding, prevent discrimination and create supports for colleagues suffering from mental health issues.
Committed to the Environment
In 2017 we received the internationally recognised environmental management standard, ISO14001 Accreditation for all KBC locations in Ireland.
Committed to Physical Activity
Less than one-third of Irish adults meet the minimal physical activity recommendation of 30 minutes of moderate activity five times a week. In 2017 we were proud to receive the Active@Work Award for our internal employee Wellbeing programme.
