WellFest in association with KBC to be replicated online in 2020 thanks to innovative new software
25 August 2020
WellFest moves to fully interactive online platform for 2020
, Ireland’s first and largest health, fitness and wellness festival, will take place with a full programme on 26th and 27th September, with an extra bonus day on 28th September. The festival, which is delivered in partnership with KBC Bank Ireland, has invested in an innovative new software called “Hopin” which will allow all aspects of the festival to take place online.
Hopin is a London-based start-up which allows event organisers to recreate traditional venues online, mirroring the in-person event experience as closely as possible. For WellFest, this means that festival goers will be able to take classes at the KBC Main Stage, listen to talks at the WellTalk area in association with Nature’s Bounty, avail of freebies and offers in the expo area, as well as being able to connect and workout in real-time with other festival-goers and friends.
Headlining this year’s event will be Richie Norton aka The Strength Temple
who will be joined “on stage” by festival favourites Bradley Simmonds, Alice Liveing and Faisal Abdalla
Commenting on the new format for WellFest, Helena Ryan, Co-Founder of WellFest, said:
“The health and safety of our community is our number one priority. With this in mind, and with the current situation regarding Covid-19, it is not possible to host WellFest 2020 in association with KBC as a physical festival. As a small Irish business, the events of the last few months have hit hard. Despite the challenges, we are determined to adapt and keep the WellFest experience alive for our amazing community.
“Rather than just postponing the event indefinitely, we have decided to provide a much-needed wellness focused event in 2020 by recreating the WellFest experience as a virtual event. We’re the first event in Ireland to fully recreate all aspects of the physical event online. We’re delighted to be using the Hopin platform – one of its key features is how much interactivity it allows. Our WellFest community can hop around to the different stage areas, connect and workout in real time with other attendees, and live video-call each other through the platform.
“We’re delighted to be able to maintain the quality of the WellFest experience and look forward to hosting our presenters on our virtual stage in September.”
All of the different areas of the event will be replicated online, including:
Also speaking at the launch of WellFest was Aidan Power, Director of Marketing Communications and Corporate Affairs from KBC, who said
- KBC Main Stage
- WellFlow for the yogis and Pilates lovers,
- WellTalk in association with Natures Bounty,
- WellKids in association with official charity partner Barretstown,
- WellFit in association with Flyefit, and
- Spin 1028 bringing tunes to a dance workout session.
: "We are delighted to support WellFest in hosting this year's festival virtually. The health and safety of the community was the number one priority for us and being able to bring the festival to the WellFest community in such a safe interactive way is fantastic. Now more than ever, the health and wellbeing of our customers and the communities we live and work in is so important and at KBC we believe we have an active role to play in ensuring communities can access events like this virtually. We are really looking forward to the festival and this year's great line-up of presenters."
