Illness covered for partial payment

If you already have a plan with us, please check your plan terms and conditions to determine what illnesses you are covered for under your own plan.

Listed below are the 23 conditions we cover for a partial payment of €15,000 on Specified Illness insurance. You will find detailed descriptions of these in the product booklets at the bottom of the page.

  • Brain abscess drained using a craniotomy
  • Carcinoma in situ – oesophagus, treated by specific surgery
  • Carcinoma in situ –  oral cavity or oropharynx treated by surgery

  • Carotid artery stenosis (treated by endarterectomy or angioplasty)

  • Central retinal artery or vein occlusion (eye stroke) resulting in permanent visual loss

  • Cerebral or spinal aneurysm – with surgery, radiotherapy or endovascular repair

  • Cerebral or spinal arteriovenous malformation – with surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery or endovascular repair

  • Coronary Artery Angioplasty – of specified severity

  • Crohn’s disease – treated with surgical intestinal resection

  • Ductal carcinoma in situ – breast, treated by surgery

  • Early stage urinary bladder cancer – of specified advancement

  • Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) for primary prevention of sudden cardiac death

  • Liver resection

  • Low Level Prostate Cancer with Gleason score between 2 and 6 – and with specific treatment

  • Peripheral vascular disease - treated by Angioplasty

  • Pituitary tumour – resulting in permanent symptoms or surgery

  • Serious Accident Cover – resulting in at least 28 consecutive days in hospital

  • Severe Burns/3rd degree burns covering at least 5% of the body’s surface

  • Significant visual impairment – permanent and irreversible

  • Single Lobectomy – the removal of a complete lobe of a lung

  • Surgical removal of one eye

  • Syringomelia or Syringobulbia - treated by surgery

  • Total colectomy, including colectomy for ulcerative colitis

We will only make one partial payment per person under any specified illness cover plan. The partial payment on these illnesses is totally separate from your main specified illness cover benefit. That means it does not generally affect the amount you could receive if you need to make a specified illness claim for one of the 45 conditions we cover on a full payment basis at a later date.
