What's happening?
As you may be aware, KBC Bank Ireland (“KBCI”) has announced the decision to formally wind down the operations of the bank and exit the Irish market. As a result of that decision we will no longer offer Home Insurance to customers. KBC Home Insurance products are currently underwritten, administered, and provided by Zurich Insurance plc and these policies will remain with Zurich Insurance.
What to expect...
After the 15th July, KBC will honour all applications submitted on or before 15th July. After the 15th of July we will no longer provide new quotes for this product.
What you need to do...
You do not need to take any action.

My Policy


What will happen to my insurance policy?

If you have a Home Insurance policy, this will continue to be underwritten and administered by Zurich Insurance on the same terms and conditions as before. As a result there are no changes to your policy and you do not need to take any actions.  

If your Home Insurance policy is due for renewal shortly you will receive your renewal documents from Zurich Insurance 4 weeks before your renewal date. This document will include the renewal price and outline the terms of the policy for the coming 12 months along with payment methods to renew your insurance policy with Zurich.

What will happen to my insurance policy?

Your Home Insurance policy will be unaffected and will be fulfilled and serviced by our partner Zurich Insurance.
For now, you do not need to take any action. Customers will at all times continue to be afforded all the relevant legal and regulatory protections.

What role does Zurich play in my policy?

Zurich are the underwriter for your policy. KBC has an exclusive agreement with Zurich whereby they provide insurance to our customers.

Who should I contact if I want to make a complaint?

If you have a complaint or noticed an error regarding your Home Insurance policy, you can contact the Zurich Customer Service Team on (053) 9157775 or alternatively you can email the Zurich Customer Support Team on customersupport@zurich.ie

If you have a complaint regarding the Transfer of your policy to Zurich Insurance or have a complaint regarding any of your KBC policies, you can contact the KBC Complaints team on 01-6646000 or you can email complaintsteam@kbc.ie

What impact will this transfer have on my current discount/premium?

Any discount applied on your current policy along with your current premium will not be impacted as a result of this transfer. There will be no changes to your current policy.

Important Information about your Home Insurance

If you are an existing KBC Home Insurance customer and have a query regarding your policy, please contact 1800 37 38 39.
  • Specified and Unspecified Personal Possessions excess of only €50, for owner occupied properties or where you are a tenant in the property

    Alternative accommodation up to 20% of sums insured for owner occupied properties or where you are a tenant in the property, in the event you need to move out of your home while repairs are taking place following a claim.

    Unspecified Personal Possessions cover up to €2,000 automatically included for owner occupied properties or where you are a tenant in the property.

    0% APR on Direct Debits and only 10% deposit required.

  •  - Low standard €350 Policy Excess
     - Personal money up to €400
     - Credit Card cover up to €1,275
     - €700 door lock replacement
     - Unlimited cover for deterioration of stock (food and drink) in deep freezer
     - 10% extra contents cover automatically at Christmas and during weddings for no extra cost
