Fee Information Document

Below you will find the Fee Information Document for your account type. This document informs you about the fees for using the main services linked to your payment account.

Fees may also apply for using services linked to the account, which are not listed here. Full information is available in the KBC Current Account Fees and Charges booklet.

Standardised Terms

The Glossary of Standardised Terms below explains the fees outlined in the Fee Information Document.

    Maintaining the account The account provider operates the account for use by the customer.
    Cash withdrawal The customer takes cash out of the customer’s account.
    Cheque lodgement The customer lodges a cheque to an account.
    Using a debit card for purchases in euro The customer uses the customer’s debit card to make a payment in euro.
    Using a debit card for purchases in foreign currency The customer uses the customer’s debit card to make a payment in foreign currency.
    Credit transfer The account provider transfers money, on the instruction of the customer, from the customer’s account to another account.
    Standing order The account provider makes regular transfers, on the instruction of the customer, of a fixed amount of money from the customer’s account to another account.
    Direct debit The customer permits someone else (recipient) to instruct the account provider to transfer money from the customer’s account to that recipient. The account provider then transfers money to the recipient on a date or dates agreed by the customer and the recipient. The amount may vary.
    Overdraft The account provider and the customer agree in advance that the customer may borrow money when there is no money left in the account. The agreement determines a maximum amount that can be borrowed, and whether fees and interest will be charged to the customer.
    Unauthorised overdraft The customer’s account is overdrawn in excess of an authorised overdraft limit or where no authorised overdraft limit has been agreed.
    Referral item Cheques, withdrawals, direct debits and standing orders are presented for payment on the customer’s account and, when paid, place the customer’s account in an unauthorised overdraft position.
    Unpaid item Cheques, direct debits or standing orders, presented for payment on the customer’s account, are returned unpaid because of insufficient balance on the customer’s account.
    Cash lodgement

    The customer puts cash into the customer’s account.
    Note: KBC does not offer this service.

    Provision of a cheque book

    The account provider provides a facility which allows the customer to direct the account provider to pay a stated sum from the customer’s account.
    Note: KBC does not offer this service.

Mortgages

Quarterly Charging Periods

Account Transaction Fees are calculated on a quarterly basis and debited from your account in respect of the previous 3 month period. Quarterly charging periods are scheduled as follows (dates are inclusive);
  • Quarter 1: 1st January - 31st March
  • Quarter 2: 1st April - 30th June
  • Quarter 3: 1st July -  30th September
  • Quarter 4: 1st October - 31st December
Where total transaction charges exceed €10 in any fee quarter, details of any transaction fees charged to your account will be confirmed to you in a Fee Advice Letter approximately 10 business days before they are deducted from your account.
Overdraft interest rates are variable and subject to change. Overdraft set up fee is charges upon activation of overdraft facility . Please refer to our Fees and Charges booklet (pdf, 66 KB) for a full description of fees and charges relating to your KBC Current Account.

Note

Please note, in line with the Code of Conduct on Mortgage Arrears (“CCMA”), KBC Bank Ireland will not impose any charges and/or surcharge interest on arrears arising on a mortgage account in arrears to which the CCMA applies.
