Important Information - Changes to Services

As we prepare for the transfer of your account(s) to Bank of Ireland in Q1 2023, we wanted to make you aware of a number of changes to services which we will need to put in place in the future to ensure the smooth transfer of your account(s) to Bank of Ireland. There may also be additional changes to services and we will keep this page up to date with further information.
 

You will also have or are due to receive communications from Bank of Ireland with further important information regarding the transfer of your account(s). Please read these and any future communications carefully.

Credit Cards

The transfer of Credit Cards to Bank of Ireland is expected in Q1 2023. As we approach the transfer date there are a number of services which KBC will not be able to implement or will implement differently to ensure the smooth transfer of your account.

In advance of the transfer, there may be actions that you ask us to complete on your account. In some cases we will be required to take your instruction to make the change and provide this to Bank of Ireland who will complete the action when your account transfers in Q1 2023. At that time there may be a short delay in actioning some of your requests. You will find more information in the table below.

Advise KBC of  the new repayment date and this will be implemented by Bank of Ireland when your credit card has transferred.
Make updates to Direct Debit repayments.

If you make your Credit Card repayments by Direct Debit it will not be possible to amend the details of the bank account you make your Credit Card repayments from.

Installment Plans

It will not be possible for customers to set up a payment instalment plan for their Credit Card with KBC.

Closing your Credit Card Account

It will not be possible to action a request to close your KBC Credit Card Account.

KBC will take the instruction and the closure of your card will be implemented by Bank of Ireland when your credit card has transferred.

Direct Debit is usually collected on the 24th January 2023 or 06th February 2023

Direct Debits on the 24th January 2023 or 06th February 2023 will not be collected in the normal way.

You will need to organise to make a manual repayment within 25 days of your Direct Debit usually being paid. Your direct debit will transfer to Bank of Ireland.
Replacement Cards

  • From 27 January 2023, if you require a replacement card, we will be unable to provide a new physical card but can provide a new digital card for use within digital wallets. 
  • From 2 February 2023, if you require a replacement card, we will be unable to provide a new digital card.

For now continue to use your KBC Credit Card.
A new physical KBC card or PIN could not be delivered and activated before your Bank of Ireland card is ready to use.  In the meantime you should continue contact us if your card is lost or stolen. Bank of Ireland will be in touch to tell you when your Bank of Ireland Credit Card is ready to use.

Deposits

The transfer of Deposits to Bank of Ireland is expected in Q1 2023. As we approach the transfer date there are a number of services which KBC will not be able to implement or will implement differently to ensure the smooth transfer of your account.

 In advance of the transfer, there may be actions that you ask us to complete on your account. In some cases we will be required to take your instruction to make the change and provide this to Bank of Ireland who will complete the action when your account transfers in Q1 2023. At that time there may be a short delay in actioning some of your requests.

We have written to customers advising of changes to the 35 day notice period – you can find more information below. We will have further updates for deposit customers in preparation for the transfer and will write to customers at the appropriate time with further information.

Closing your account: For a period in advance of the transfer of your account the 35 day notice period will not apply if you are closing your account.
 

The notice period will continue to apply if you are making a withdrawal. This instruction will be passed to Bank of Ireland and they will pay out from your account.

There is no action for you to take unless you wish to close your account.

Changes to Services in App or Online

There are a number of services which will need to be paused as we prepare for some accounts to transfer to Bank of Ireland. While some accounts are not transferring to Bank of Ireland there may still be an impact on services in app and online.

Please note: the KBC App and Online Banking will be unavailable from 5:30pm Friday 17th February to 9am Monday 20th February 2023, to prepare for the transfer of Deposit Accounts to Bank of Ireland. Debit Carts and digital wallets can still be used.
