The Role: 
This role is within the Impairment Challenger team, which is part of the wider Decision Support team in the Finance department. The position is unique as it encompasses both Finance and Risk elements. The role will focus on impairment provision reporting in accordance with IFRS9, forecasting and analysis on a regular and ad-hoc basis. 



Role Profile  

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the monthly calculation and validation of the Impairment Provision P&L, in accordance with IFRS9
  • Journal postings to the Oracle GL and reconciliation between the GL and source systems
  • Review and verify results from the Impairment Calculation Engine
  • Variance analysis; Actuals versus Budget / Forecast / Prior periods
  • Build and maintain strong relationship with primary stakeholders (both locally and in Group) 
  • Provide clear and concise results from data analysis to provide key insights on business performance
  • Assist in the delivery of financial forecasts, annual budgets and quarterly re-forecasts
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting Key Performance Indicators, including variance analysis
  • Contribute to the financial analysis of proposed strategies, preparation of sensitivity analysis and evaluation of strategic considerations
  • Assist in preparation of financial presentations to Senior Management. 
  • Contribute to the team’s role in driving and improving the quality of financial analysis provided to senior management


Person Specification

Knowledge, Education & Experience:
  • Partly / Newly Qualified Accountant – ACA / ACCA / CIMA
  • Financial Services / Banking Audit experience would be a distinct advantage
  • Good numeracy, mathematical and analytical skills
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex financial information
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy required
  • Highly proficient with MS Excel and Powerpoint, with SQL experience an advantage
  • Experience with Data Management / Data Analytics an advantage
  • Strong team player as well as the ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability and confidence to challenge current processes and identify alternatives
  • Highly motivated and comfortable working in a demanding environment
  • Self-starter with good organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
