Ireland’s digital first bank, is bringing its popular home series event online to meet the needs of home buyers as they navigate the new environment for buying a home. The bank will host a free virtual mortgage event for prospective home buyers on Thursday, June 18th at 7pm.

Ready, Steady, Home, the first virtual mortgage event of its kind in Ireland aims to educate prospective home buyers on the Irish housing and mortgage market as the economy begins to reopen.

The virtual workshop will be hosted by radio DJ and new home owner Jenny Greene and will feature experts from across the mortgage and housing market who will address some of the  burning questions being asked by those looking to buy their new home.

Speakers will include:

  • Austin Hughes, Chief Economist, KBC Bank Ireland.
  • Mark Stafford, Estate Agent, DNG.
  • Breda Gormally, Hub Manager, KBC Bank Ireland.

Home buyers at all stages of the buying process are encouraged to register for the event. The speakers will be on hand to answer questions from home buyers in a Q&A panel discussion.
Participants can register for the event at www.kbcreadysteadyhome.ie

Commenting on the event, Conor McGowan, Head of Mortgages, KBC Bank Ireland said: In response to the challenges presented by Covid-19, we have updated a number of our processes to accommodate customers including functionality to apply for mortgages over the phone and to facilitate submission of mortgage applications electronically. While the landscape has changed, customers continue to seek value and lower mortgage repayments and the volume of mortgage searches has surged again in recent weeks.

We are seeing high levels of  applications from both home buyers and switchers with switcher applications up 20% from this time last year. At KBC, we continue to offer a full suite of mortgage products at some of the most competitive rates in the market to
first time buyers, movers and switchers. We look forward to meeting home buyers at our virtual mortgage event and hope that the event will help them on their mortgage journey.”

Austin Hughes, Chief Economist, KBC Bank Ireland said “Although Covid-19 is having a major impact on housing market activity at present, as consumers look at navigating the housing market again , there will be an increased emphasis on finding an adaptable living space that meets the needs of work and play. Finding a ‘future proof’ home will become more important to people and as Ireland has a smaller housing stock in terms of its population than most European countries this may take more time.”

KBC customers can apply for a mortgage over the phone on 1800 93 92 44, in a KBC hub or register for the event at https://kbcreadysteadyhome.ie/
