The Role: 
Reporting to the Head of Legal, the  Legal Services Unit require a lawyer on a fixed term contract basis to cover for a maternity leave. The Legal Services unit is a small, agile team which provides a wide range of legal advisory services and assists the Business in the identification and management of legal risk.  The role holder will act as a partner to the Business and will work with stakeholders and legal colleagues in the provision of legal advice across a range of departments demonstrating a strong understanding of the legal and regulatory matters impacting the Bank. . 

Essential Duties

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
The Retail Customer Services Phone Team Officer will be responsible for providing a first class service to mortgage, deposit, current account and insurance customers of KBC. Please see a detailed description of the role below:
  • Provide a leading level of Customer Service in a courteous and sensitive manner.
  • Excellent telephone manner and be able to communicate with clients in a professional way answering a high volume of calls per day.
  • Customer queries should be resolved efficiently and to agreed deadlines.
  • Updating Client Accounts, confirming by letter where necessary and ensuring absolute accuracy at all times.
  • The inbound phone team officer will support other teams within Customer Services as required.

Person Specification

Knowledge, Education & Experience:
  • Qualified lawyer with 5/6 years PQE
  • Good Knowledge of general banking law and practice and the financial services industry to include experience in residential mortgages and the taking of security
  • Excellent technical and drafting skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with distribution agreements,  supplier contracts, outsourcing agreements, IT contracts and confidentiality agreements is desirable
  • Experience and knowledge in the areas of insurance and pension law preferred - to include, but not limited to, knowledge of Solvency II, the Insurance Distribution Directive and European Union (Insurance Distribution) Regulations 2018 as amended, Pensions Act 1990, as amended, the Life Assurance (Provision of Information) Regulations 2001, as amended, Corporate Governance for Insurance Undertakings
  • Strong analytical skills and commercial judgment;
  • Highly organised and efficient with an ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure deadlines are consistently met;
  • An excellent communicator with a willingness to embrace a ‘plain english’ approach to documentation.
