Free banking and €100 “back to college” bonus for students.
In response to a recent survey of students carried out by KBC, the bank has today announced details of a new offer which will see third level students who open a KBC current account receive €100 in cash* over the next six months. The attractive offer will appeal to students looking for a modern banking experience and a helping hand with their college finances as the new term gets underway.
A new KBC survey** of Irish students and their banking habits has revealed that one-fifth (21%) of students opened their main bank account during college registration or Fresher’s Week. The vast majority (73%) of students much prefer to interact with their bank digitally, with online (47%) and mobile apps (26%) outweighing traditional branch visits (18%). KBC have made a significant investment in the latest banking technologies, giving customers the same quality banking service via their desktop or mobile, as when they visit a KBC hub.
One-third also reported being more informed about the banking market, products and services as a result of the economic downturn, with lower banking fees emerging as the most important feature when considering choosing a bank. KBC have responded by offering free banking to students as well as a new offer whereby students can receive €100 in cash*. To qualify for KBC’s new offer, students simply need to open a new KBC current account which can be done online, by phone or at any of KBC’s hubs in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick. KBC today also opened a pop-up hub in Clonskeagh to assist UCD students over the coming months.
Students will receive their first €50 payment within ten working days of opening their new current account, with the remaining €50 lodged in January when they use their debit card for at least 10 transactions before the 31st December 2014.
KBC’s current account also offers the following features and benefits:-
Announcing the new student offer, Dara Deering, Executive Director and Head of Retail Banking, KBC Bank Ireland, said: “We’ve had a great response to our current account with its free online and mobile banking, and now KBC is giving students across Ireland a further reason to bank with us, and benefit from our €100 cash offer. With the cost of college top of mind we know that students will welcome the extra money and our pop-up hub and team will be on the road during the first term to meet and help students plan for the year ahead.”
“Our research shows that students today are financially savvy and know a genuine offer when they see one – just like the growing number of people joining KBC for our competitive products, online banking and great customer service.”
KBC Pops Into Clonskeagh: Students Laura, Aisling and Conor launch the opening of KBC Bank Ireland’s new pop-up hub in Clonskeagh, which opens next week to assist UCD students over the coming months, with free banking and a €100 “back to college” bonus also on offer for all third level students in Ireland who open a KBC current account.
