It's your Mortgage Day!
We're offerering you the chance to win an overnight stay for two to one of 11 locations in Ireland.
We’ve been pretty busy in KBC over the past two years, setting up 11 new Hubs in locations all over Ireland. Our most recent Hubs were opened in Naas and Kilkenny, following openings in Maynooth, Dundrum, Stillorgan, Swords and Grand Canal. These all joined our original Hubs in Cork, Limerick, Galway and Baggot Street in Dublin.
What’s the difference between a Hub and a bank branch? Well, a Hub certainly doesn’t look like a bank. Or act like a bank. Our Hubs have been designed as modern, cosy spaces where our customers can relax and have a chat about their finances with one of our personal finance specialists.
But each Hub does offer the products and services a retail bank should - from current and savings accounts to a suite of savings and investments, insurance products, credit card, personal loan, mobile app and mortgage offers.
We also discovered some pretty interesting things and cool facts about each of our 11 Hub locations along the way. Why not find out for yourself by dropping into your nearest KBC Hub for a relaxed chat and a coffee and find out more about our great products and services?
Instead of sending our customers a ‘Wish you were here’ postcard, we decided to offer you the chance to win a weekend stay for two to one of these 11 locations in Ireland. All you need to do is learn one cool fact about each place, then answer the question at the end of this piece.
1. Kilkenny
Walt Disney’s great grandfather is from Gowran in Kilkenny.
2. Baggot Street
The famous painter Francis Bacon was born on Baggot Street.
3. Stillorgan
This was the location of the first purpose-built shopping centre ever to be opened in Ireland in 1966.
4. Maynooth
The 17th century University of Maynooth is home to the oldest native tree in Ireland and the original Intel chip.
5. Dundrum
One of Dublin’s most panoramic views can be accessed from Deerpark (5 minutes from Dundrum centre). This makes the park the perfect vantage point for the Aurora Borealis when it is visible from the East coast.
6. Cork
Cork has two big similarities to Sydney in Australia. The Cork Opera House is the only purpose-built opera house in Ireland, and Cork harbour is the second largest in the world, second only to Sydney harbour.
7. Limerick
The Frank McCourt museum in the centre of Limerick allows people to step into his famous novel Angela’s Ashes.
8. Galway
Galway is the fastest growing city in Europe and is labelled the cultural heart of Ireland.
9. Naas
Naas can be translated to ‘the place of assembly of the kings’ and was once the seat of the high kings of Leinster.
10. Swords
The newly renovated Swords Castle and grounds was one of the film location for the TV series The Tudors in 2010.
11. Grand Canal
The Grand Canal area has been dubbed Silicon Docks in reference to Silicon Valley, as it is the base for big tech companies such as Google, Facebook and Twitter.
