Industry production up 1.6pc in May

Production for Manufacturing Industries for May 2012 was 1.6pc higher than in April 2012, according to latest figures from the CSO.

n an annual basis production for May 2012 increased by 4.9pc when compared with May 2011.

The seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production for Manufacturing Industries for the three month period March 2012 to May 2012 was 2.9pc higher than in the preceding three month period.

The "Modern" Sector, comprising a number of high-technology and chemical sectors, showed a monthly increase in production for May 2012 of 5.8pc while there was a decrease of 4.8pc in the "Traditional" Sector.

The seasonally adjusted industrial turnover index for Manufacturing Industries increased by 1.1pc in May 2012 when compared with April 2012.

n an annual basis turnover decreased by 3.6pc when compared with May 2011.
